What is expedited SNAP?
Expedited SNAP is the federal fast track that makes a state issue benefits by the seventh day after you apply. A household qualifies if its monthly gross income is under $150 and its liquid resources (cash and bank balances) are $100 or less; if it is a destitute migrant or seasonal farmworker household with $100 or less; or if its monthly gross income plus liquid resources is less than its rent or mortgage plus utilities.
The rent-and-utilities test is the one movers most often meet: a first month's rent and deposits can drain savings below a single month's housing costs even when income is not unusually low.
Ask for expedited screening when you file in the new state; it is decided at application, not after. The full verification still happens later, but food benefits arrive first.
