Do NOT close your claim with Utah Department of Workforce Services

Your claim belongs to the state where you earned the wages (the liable state). Moving does not transfer it — you keep the same claim, weekly amount, and remaining weeks.

Update your address and keep certifying weekly

Your claim stays with Utah — you can continue to file against Utah after moving as long as you meet eligibility requirements. Update your address immediately at jobs.utah.gov/ui/home (payments may be delayed otherwise). If you live in or move to another state you must register with that state's employment center within three business days and submit proof of registration to Workforce Services; failure to register within 10 working days of applying can result in denial of benefits. Notify the Claims Center if you move outside the United States.

Register for work in your new state if required

Many liable states require interstate claimants to register with the new state's workforce agency and continue work-search logging. Check Utah Department of Workforce Services's interstate-claim rules.
